Currently, the following support materials are available for schools: K-12 AKS blue books, grade level booklets for parents, Instructional Planners with Indicators of Achievement and sample interventions and extensions, correlations with standardized tests, Teacher's Checklists for the AKS, Progress Checks for grades 1, 2, and 6, electronic assessment item banks, electronic lesson plans for the AKS. This office serves as the liaison between the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the teachers and administrators in our local schools.
Assessment
The Curriculum Development and Instructional Support office provides ongoing professional learning for teachers, and the AKS Teacher's Checklists. Teachers have learned ways to accurately assess their students' learning of the AKS through professional learning and faculty resources. Technology is playing a larger role in helping teach the AKS and monitor how well their students are performing. Professional learning includes working with technology resources available to the teachers for instructing and assessing the AKS.
The Office of Curriculum Development and Instructional Support continues to work closely with schools and teachers to identify and implement the most effective ways of teaching and assessing the AKS. They provide services to help the schools be sure students are learning the essential knowledge and skills needed to be successful in life.
