The ACT Assessment® is designed to assess high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.

Performance on the ACT Assessment is expressed as a scale score. The scale score ranges from 1 (low) to 36 (high) for each of the four subject-area tests and for the Composite. The Composite is the average of the four test scores, rounded to the nearest whole number. ACT administers this assessment. ACT offers a 30-minute Writing test as an optional component for U.S. students. Click here for more information about the ACT, and click here to access online help preparing for the ACT, free for Georgia students. (Students must set-up an account with GAcollege411.org in order to access certain sections of this web site. The site is administered by a partnership of state agencies, higher education institutions, and associations.)
