The SAT Reasoning Test measures verbal, writing, and mathematics reasoning skills that students have developed over time and skills they need to be successful academically. Many colleges and universities use the SAT as one indicator among others to determine a student's readiness to do college-level work.

The SAT is scored on a scale of 200 to 800 for each of the three test areas-- critical reading, writing, and mathematics. The scores for the three subject areas are added together for a total score, ranging from 600 to 2400. The SAT is administered by the College Board. Click here for more information about the SAT, and click here to access online help preparing for the SAT, free for Georgia students. (Students must set-up an account with GAcollege411.org in order to access certain sections of this web site. The site is administered by a partnership of state agencies, higher education institutions, and associations.)
