GCPS Department of Planning
Greg Stanfield, Director
(678) 301-7085
Planning is vital to a fast-growing school system like Gwinnett County Public Schools. Historically, GCPS' Planning Department has a reputation for being on the mark when it comes to projecting how many students will attend Gwinnett schools. This is very important in that it allows the school system to plan accordingly for everything from classrooms to teachers and textbooks. In addition, precise planning allows the school system to plan for the future through methods that are least disruptive to students and their families. The school system also uses its accurate projections to plan redistricting ahead of schedule, allowing families time to prepare for upcoming changes.
The Department of Planning
- provides an annual enrollment projection and a five-year forecast based on historical information and county growth projections
- supports enrollment forecasting and boundary planning by maintaining the operation of the geographic information system
- helps newcomers locating or verifying which school serves specific addresses
- provides timely and accurate updates to Superintendent, School Board, and Gwinnett County officials on school system growth and the impact of proposed development on schools.
