Welcome to "The Freshman Book"...
A Preview of the 9th Grade for today's 8th graders

Designed specifically for 8th graders to use during their spring semester, "The Freshman Book" is a preview of their choices for the 9th grade and a sampling of a bigger, more comprehensive book that 9th graders will receive next fall, called "The Choice Book."
"The Freshman Book" includes worksheets, frequently asked questions, tips, a glossary of terms, course descriptions, a calendar for 2008-09, and more.
Tailored to the graduation requirements that will be in place for the Class of 2012 and beyond, "The Freshman Book" and "The Choice Book" are valuable planning tools for students and their families. Students are encouraged to really read them. Write in them. Use the worksheets to map our their options and keep track of their accomplishments. And, perhaps most importantly, hold onto these books. In just a few short years, today's 8th graders will be putting together college applications and résumés. Those completed worksheets will be very useful as they look back at high school and their records of achievement.

An important note: "The Freshman Book" and the new edition of "The Choice Book" apply only to students entering high school in the fall. These books reflect new state graduation requirements that do not apply to students who entered high school before August 2008.
